‘Jungle Tales with Mowgli’ Starts Streaming Today on JioHotstar and Disney Channel
JioStar is expanding its Kids & Family entertainment portfolio with Jungle Tales with Mowgli, a new animated comedy that reimagines the familiar world of Mowgli for a contemporary generation. The series starts streaming and airing today at 2 PM on JioHotstar and Disney Channel, marking the company’s 16th locally developed Kids & Family IP.
At the centre of the series is a curious and mischievous 10-year-old Mowgli, whose everyday adventures in the jungle frequently lead him into unexpected and humorous situations. Rather than simply retelling the classic story, the new adaptation leans into situational humour, slapstick comedy, energetic chases and playful exchanges between its characters.
The series brings back several familiar names associated with Mowgli’s world. Baloo and Bagheera return as his trusted companions, while Sherkhan, Kaa and Tabaqui add conflict and chaos to his adventures. The combination is designed to introduce younger viewers to these characters while offering parents a nostalgic connection to a story that has remained popular across generations.
Alok Jain, Head, Hindi & English Entertainment Business (Streaming, TV & Studios), JioStar, described Mowgli as one of those rare characters capable of connecting with more than one generation. According to Jain, the objective behind the new series was to take the timeless world of The Jungle Book and reinterpret it with humour, energy and storytelling sensibilities suited to today’s children and families.
The launch is being supported by a wide-ranging multiscreen promotional campaign spanning television, streaming, digital platforms and on-ground family destinations. The campaign has already connected with audiences through Anime India and will extend across malls and other family-focused locations. A digital creator campaign will further use Mowgli’s cross-generational familiarity to connect younger audiences with viewers who grew up with the character.
With Jungle Tales with Mowgli, JioStar continues to strengthen its locally developed Kids & Family catalogue. The portfolio already includes titles such as Motu Patlu, Chikoo Aur Bunty and Bittu Bahenebaaz, with the latest addition becoming its 16th indigenous property in the segment.
Nivea and Tedibar have joined the series as co-powered-by sponsors.
By combining an iconic character with a contemporary, comedy-driven treatment, Jungle Tales with Mowgli aims to create a shared family viewing experience where nostalgia for older audiences meets fast-paced entertainment for a new generation of children.
