Saroj Ka Rishta trailer: Sanah Kapur tries to shed kilos to woo man of her dreams, teams up with mom

The more than two-minute-long trailer opens with Sanah Kapur being introduced as Saroj, who is exactly opposite of how her father (Kumud Mishra) describes her to probable suitors. She has feelings for a boy who wants a “slim” girl as revealed by her sister. As she reaches the gym to “lose weight without any pain”, her gym trainer falls for her. He likes her irrespective of her weight and even says, “Chand ke mote hone se koi farak nahi padta, motapa to khush rahne ki nishani hoti hai (it doesn't matter the moon is big or small, fatness is the symbol of happiness).”

While it remains to be seen who will actually get to marry Saroj, Kumud Mishra's line from the trailer wins hearts. He says parents shouldn't marry off their daughter just because she is turning older or the neighbours are commenting about her. Supriya as Saroj's mother, meanwhile, is seen doling out some love advice to her daughter.

Saroj Ka Rishta is directed by Abhishek Saxena and is produced by Anmol Kapoor, Nazia Siddiqui, Narendra Garg and Raman Kapoor.

Sanah Kapur got married in real life in March. She tied the knot with Mayank Pahwa, son of actors Manoj Pahwa and Seema Pahwa. She was last seen in 2015 film Shaandaar, which also starred her half-brother Shahid Kapoor and was directed by her father Pankaj Kapur

The film features Shahid Kapoor’s half sister Sanah Kapur in the lead role Saroj, who despite being an overweight girl, is the most sought after girl of her town. This is the second feature film of Sanah, who made her debut with 2015 romcom Shaandaar, which was directed by Vikas Bahl and was headlined by her brother Shahid Kapoor and Alia Bhatt.

It is a female centric film, featuring actors Gaurav Pandey and Randeep Rai in important roles. Pandey is known for playing supporting roles in movies such as Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania, A Flying Jatt and Badrinath Ki Dulhania.

On the other hand, Randeep Rai is known for his work in TV shows like O Gujariya: Badlein Chal Duniya, Balika Vadhu 2, Diya Aur Baati Hum etc. Additionally, the film also stars Kumud Mishra as Saroj’s father, Kritika Awasthi, Mukesh Bhatt, Neelu Kohli, Bunty Chopra and Ashok Pathak in key roles.

SAROJ KA RISHTA RELEASE DATE

The film bankrolled by Dr. Anmol Kapoor, Nazia Siddiqui, Narendra Garg, Raman Kapoor and Abhishek Saxena under the banners of Kapoor Film Inc, Garg Films, Aena Productions, Ambi Abhi Productions, has been confirmed for a theater release.

The film will be released on September 16, 2022 in the cinemas near you, so if you are a romcom lover it will surely be a best treat for you.

PLOT, TEASER & TRAILER

The Plot of the series revolves around Saroj, a middle class girl from Ghaziabad, who lives with her father and believes in living life to the fullest. On July 22, 2022, the makers shared the teaser of the film which depicts that the movie deals with body shaming but actually revolves around a father daughter relationship.

The teaser has the Voiceover of actor Arshad Warsi and it gives us the sneak peek into life of Saroj, who is a full-of-life person but the only thing that she bothers about is her weight, which is 120 Kg. She lives with her father who loves him to the core and often worries about how he would live when Saroj gets married.

Saroj is a girl bold in nature and doesn’t spare whoever tries to unnecessarily bother or irritate her. Despite being an overweight girl she is the sought-after girl of her city. The teaser & trailer also show the love triangle between Saroj, Gaurav Pandey and Randeep Rai. Overall, the it looks really interesting and will surely entertain the movie-goers.

Presented by Miicall ‘Saroj Ka Rishta’ has been helmed by Abhishek Saxena. The film also sars Randeep Rai, Gaurav Pandey, Kumud Mishra who is playing Saroj aka Sanah Kapur’s father in the film. Interestingly, Sanah Kapur debuted with the film ‘Shaandar’ in which she starred along her real brother Shahid Kapur and her real father Pankaj Kapur. In ‘Saroj Ka Rishta’ Kumud Mishra and Sanah Kapur share a beautiful bond as father and daughter.

Sanah Kapur in an interview after the teaser launch of ‘Saroj Ka Rishta’ stated that “I really like watching feel good cinema and this is also a feel good film. My favourite Bollywood genre is romantic comedy and I loved doing ‘Saroj Ki Rishta’ which is also a romantic comedy film. As you all have loved teaser, I am sure you people are also going to love this film.”

Talking about the response to the teaser of the film, Shahid Kapoor’s step sister said, “I am glad that people have really loved the teaser of the film. I am getting so much of love for my character in the film. I am sure once the film releases in cinemas, people will love it more. I am eagerly awaiting the release of the film.”

She also shared that her character in the film is such that she doesn’t care what people think about her as she feels she is ‘perfect’ in her mind, whether people think the same or not. She says that we should define ‘perfection’ for ourselves and shouldn’t adhere to other people’s idea of perfection and that’s the message of our film.

The director of the film Abhishek Saxena also said in a statement that “The mindset about overweight people needs to be changed. They all are normal people just like us but in our film, we are not trying to be preachy about the issue and focus more on the relationship of father and daughter duo.”
